The Canine Rotavirus (CRV) Ag Rapid Test is a lateral flow immunoassay for the quick, qualitative detection of Canine Rotavirus antigen in canine feces or vomit, typically yielding results in 10-15 minutes. It aids in diagnosing diarrhea-causing infections with high accuracy, often featuring a two-line system (Control/Test) to determine positive or negative results.

Key Aspects of the CRV Ag Rapid Test:

Purpose: Detects CRV antigens in canine fecal or vomit samples.

Procedure: A fecal swab is inserted into a buffer tube, and the mixture is added to a test card.

Reading Results:

Positive: Two colored lines appear (one control 'C', one test 'T').

Negative: Only the control line ('C') appears.

Invalid: No control line ('C') appears, even if a T-line is present.

Turnaround Time: Results are usually interpreted within 10 minutes.

Use Cases: Used by veterinarians to screen for rotavirus, especially when dogs present with diarrhea.

Important Notes:

Specificity & Sensitivity: The test typically shows high accuracy (e.g., ~97% relative accuracy).

Storage: Kits are often stored at and must be used within a specific time (e.g., 1 hour) after opening the pouch.

Other Potential Uses: It can be part of a combination kit to test for other diseases like Canine Parvovirus (CPV) or Coronavirus (CCV).
