FeLV Ag / FIV Ab Combo Test Kit

The FeLV Ag / FIV Ab Rapid Kit is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of feline immunodeficiency virus antibodies in cat serum, plasma, or whole blood, often combined with FeLV antigen tests. Providing results in about 10 minutes, it helps detect infected cats by identifying antibody presence with high sensitivity. 

Key Features and Procedures:

Purpose: Identifies antibodies to the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.

Sample Types: Uses whole blood (often collected in EDTA tubes), plasma, or serum.

Methodology: A small amount of sample is added to the test device, followed by an assay diluent, which acts as a sandwich lateral flow immunoassay.

Reading Results: Results appear within 10 minutes, showing a visible test (T) line and control (C) line.

Interpretation: A valid test shows a C band. A visible T band indicate the presence of FIV antibodies. 

Commonly Used Test Kits:

 FeLV Ag / FIV Ab Rapid Kit: Detects both Feline Leukemia virus antigen and FIV antibody.

Rapid FIV Ab/FeLV Ag Test: Known for high sensitivity (96.8% for FIV) and specificity.

FIV Ab/FeLV Ag: A commonly used brand for rapid diagnosis. 

Limitations: While rapid, confirmatory testing may be needed, particularly in young kittens, as antibodies from a vaccinated mother can cause false positives.
