The CDV+Toxo Ag Test is a specialized veterinary rapid diagnostic tool, often sold as part of a 4-in-1 combo kit (e.g., CDV/CPV/CCV/Toxo Ag) to detect multiple canine or feline diseases simultaneously. It uses lateral flow immunochromatography to identify the antigens of Toxoplasma gondii (Toxo Ag) and Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) in animals. 

Key Features of CDV/Toxo Antigen Test

Purpose: Rapid, qualitative detection of Toxoplasma gondii (Toxo Ag) and Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) antigens, helping to identify active infections.

Sample Types: Usually performed on faeces (for Toxo), anal swabs, or ocular/nasal secretions (for CDV).

Mechanism: Colloidal gold immunochromatography, providing a simple, visible result (C/T lines).

Speed: Results are typically available within 10–15 minutes. 

What the Test Detects

Toxoplasma gondii Antigen (Toxo Ag): Identifies the presence of the parasite in the gut, often used for screening infected cats or dogs.

Canine Distemper Virus Antigen (CDV Ag): Detects the virus in conjunctival or nasal secretions. 

Common Applications

Screening: Rapidly testing animals showing symptoms of diarrhea, pneumonia, or neurological signs.

In-clinic/Home Testing: Easy-to-use kits allow for quick, onsite, or home testing.

Zoonotic Risk Management: Helps identify if pets are shedding T. gondii, allowing for precautions against human infection. 

Note: While these rapid tests are highly convenient, they should ideally be used for preliminary screening, with severe cases confirmed by a veterinarian through further laboratory tests such as PCR or more comprehensive ELISA serum antibody tests
